You Can't Out Train a Bad Diet

 This a fantastic video with trainer Craig Ballantyne. It graphically shows that you can not out train a bad diet when it comes to losing weight.

 What do you think of this video?

What another great review of my weight loss programme, petecohen.tv

I love to able to share some of the success that people have on my weight loss programme, petecohen.tv

 The following is a journal entry from one of our bloggers.

Today has been a FABULOUS DAY..... I went to town with my daughter and grandaughter and was delighted to see all the summer sales had started.... like all of us I do like a bargain..... and FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DONKEYS YEARS I TRIED CLOTHES ON IN A CHANGING ROOM!!!!!!!!

This is not a huge thing for most people but when I started  petecohen.tv on Day 1 i was hardly able to sqeeze myself into a very generous size 36!!!! I had to buy 2nd had clothes online, as nothing in the high street went anywere near me, and I spent most of my life in baggy nightshirts hardly able to leave the house as i was nearly 28 stone on a 5'3 frame, riddled with arthiritis and recovering from major cancer surgery too, so every day I was in so much pain i didnt know where to put myself!!! I would drive out at midnight to do banking in the nightsave so I didnt get the micky taken out of me, or crawl around a supermarket hanging over the trolly for support just to pick u a few essentials, but done all my shopping online...... So TODAY.... THIS WONDERFUL DAY...... I SHOPPED SOLID FOR 4 HOURS, DIDNT HAVE TO SIT DOWN ONCE....... I GOT INTO A SIZE 22 FROM BHS A SHOP I WOULD NEVER HAVE DREAMT OF EVER BUYING IN.... I CAME AWAY FROM ANN HARVEYS WITH 2 CARRIER BAGS FULL OF SIZE 22'S........... AND BRIGHT BRIGHT LOVELY SUMMER COLOURS, NOT THE BLACKS AND BROWNS FROM PRE petecohen.tv........

I stlll have a long way to go , I will be 5 stone lighter, by my birthday in February, and then i will be a size 16 which is the size that dreams were only made of before I joined Pete and his merry band of bloggers.

Today my daughter and grandaughter got tired before I did, and virtually dragged me back to the school screaming and shouting that i had more shopping to do !!!!

So if anyone is wobbling, or weebling or struggling take faith from this entry, and its simple as can be ....... dont just lose weight, become EXCEPTIONAL at losing weight, be as EXCEPTIONAL at losing weight as you are at loving your family and caring for them, or as you are in your relationship and loving your partner, or your work, apply that steely determination that nothing and no one will get in your way of being the best you can be....... and all your dreams will come true as mine are on a daily basis.

Thankyou Pete, my friend and hero, thankyou bloggers for always being there, This is the ONLY weight loss system you will ever have to do ever ever again.

Loads of love and a very happy size 22 Sue here in Norfolk

Thanks for sharing Sue. You are inspiration to us all.

I really did see some great things and felt inspired by what I saw. The Spanish have a great way of living, they appreciate so much of what many of us we have forgotten, like eating good food and taking the time to talk to each.

Please watch the film and make any comments you have.

Annie Garcia's Chicken Tikka Recipe

HI there

I have another recipe for you to try from Chef, Annie Garcia. As she calls it "The Simplest Chicken Tikka Recipe Ever". You can see how it's done in the film below. It's simple and easy to do.

Simplest Chicken Tikka Recipe

Patak’s Tikka Paste
Skinned Chicken: Thighs, breasts, legs

Put your oven onto heat about 200 C/Gas Mark 6
Let your chicken come to room temperature.
Brush some paste all over the chicken.
Heat up a non-stick pan slowly.

When hot, add your chicken and leave it to cook, until you can turn it, it will release itself when caramelised.

Place on a non-stick dish and put in the oven for about 15 mins, or until your chicken is ready – you can test this by inserting a skewer into the meat, if the juices come out clear, it’s done.

When it’s cooked – cover and leave to rest for a few mins.

Serve and enjoy either hot or cold.

Can Supplements Kill You?

In the last 100 years, we went from not having any vitamin supplements, to having them over the counter and readily available. And yet most people don’t know how important vitamins really are. And if they take large enough doses, they can use them to prevent illness. And if they take large enough doses, they can use them to treat illness.

Why do we not hear this more,  in fact, on the news we hear the opposite, that we shouldn’t take too many of those vitamins. Yet they don’t provide any evidence of that, they just say it. In fact many Drs say  ’I don’t believe in vitamins’. But what about the actual facts.

 Well over the last 23 years, according to the American Association of Poison Control Centres, there had been a total of 10 deaths alleged to be caused by vitamins. That’s 10 in 23 years. That’s less than half a death per year.  And these are unproven, unverified, but they are attributed to vitamin consumption.

We have a nation where the very thing that will help people is being presented as actually dangerous. There have been studies that report to show that if you take an extra multi-vitamin every day that it’s going to hurt you. There are studies that say that vitamin C will cause a kidney stone. Well according to Andrew W. Saul, Therapeutic Nutrition Specialist and Author;

"I’ve searched the medical literature and I’ve asked all my students to search the medical literature, and my colleagues to search it, and as soon as they find scientific evidence of a Vitamin C caused kidney stone send me the paper, send me the reference. It’s been 30 years and I’ve never gotten one. Now either everybody’s dumb or it’s a myth.

There’s an assumption that vitamins are basically like drugs and should be regulated like drugs. There’s an assumption that if it’s therapeutically valuable, it must be dangerous, because drugs are. So, we have been taught our whole lives to be consumers, mostly consumers of modern medicine, which is pharmaceutical medicine.

A doctor goes to medical school, gets a medical education, practices medicine, prescribes medicines and is called an MD. Well, let’s put nutrition into that and see how it sounds. My Dr is a nutritionist who went to nutritional school, studied nutrition and has a nutritional degree and prescribes nutrients. It sounds very strange. When we say ‘I went to the Dr’ it’s implicit that the Dr was a medical Dr."

As far as I am concerned as much as medical doctors can help us when we are sick, proper nutrition and this can include taking nutritional supplements, can prevent us from getting sick in the the first place. To me there is not better medicine than making sure your body gets what it needs and that vitamins and mineral.

Eat Fresh to Stay Fresh

Do we know that good fresh food is what we need to be healthy, fit and have plenty of energy?

Please have a look at the short video below about the importance of eating as much fresh and natural food as possible.

 The problem that today good health makes a lot of sense, but it doesn’t always make a lot of money. Not as much money as producing cheap processed food.

If we choose to not consider nutrition seriously, then we are doing a terrible disservice to ourselves. According to  David Wolfe, World Authority on Raw Food and Super Food;

“Every single person in the world, every culture, every language, every country, every person in the world knows it. You are what you eat. Food does matter.”

 But what about so many of the healthy foods we eat?  Many of the health benefits of these foods come from them being fresh. Lets consider for a moment just how old the food you eat is that you buy in your local supermarket.

Chances are it wasn’t grown down the road and in many cases not even in our country. Many of the foods we eat have traveled hundreds and sometimes thousands of miles. Which in many cases your food can already be at least a week old.

Dr Victor Zienes, Holistic Dentist and Nutritionist ask the question;

“How much nutritional value are you getting from food that’s at least 5 days old? “If you’re lucky, you’re getting maybe 40% of what you need.”

In addition Professor Ian Brighthope, Professor of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine says;

“Nearly every food that you’ll find in the shops in a big city has been processed, it has been delayed to the shops, quite often nutrients have deteriorated or disappeared from the food by the times it gets on the plate.”

What I have said here is not to scare you but make you aware about the food you eat and where it has come from. My mission is to empower and inform you so in the future you can make better choices.

Please have your say and let me know what you think?

The Power of Choice

What precedes all behaviours, actions and performances?

The Power of Choice

The Power of Choice

 What turns dreams into reality?

The answer is decisions: your decisions. They determine what you think, how you feel, what you do and what you become.

Why are some people successful at becoming slimmer, fitter and healthier? Because they make better decisions. Because they make decisions full stop.

Most of us just hope, wish and, eventually, regret: ‘I’m not good enough…I’m too old…. I haven’t had the right opportunities……I’m jus a fat person…’

Successful slimmers give up hope and make a decision.  How can you tell a decision from a hope, a wish – or even a fear?

We’ve seen a lot of hopes and wishes and vague intentions cunningly disguised as decisions: decisions to take regular exercise, decisions to eat a healthy diet, decisions to change jobs… but there so-called decisions never lead anywhere.  So how do you know when you’ve go the real thing, when you’ve made a real decision?

Real decisions trigger instant action.  Hoping and wishing on the other hand are states of inactivity – almost paralysis.

When do you think a thought and it changes everything, that thought was a decision.

We can give you the information you need to reach your goal, but the missing ingredient that only you can supply is the crucial decision that puts you onto the road to change.

Of course, you are already taking action based on the last decision you made about your weight and it’s producing the results you’ve got now.  Eating to change the way you feel, constantly dieting and thinking about food, trying to stick to hard, damaging exercise routines are all actions which have produced results.  But they probably weren’t the results you wanted.

So why not make a new decision: one that will give you a happier, healthier lifestyle? The only discomfort you’ll feel is a moment’s anxiety about stepping outside your comfort zone.

 Take It Easy

Being overweight is a vicious circle because your body chemistry favours stability.  Overweight people tend to take less exercise than thin ones because it’s harder for them- they don’t build as much muscle as thin people do and it’s muscle that burns fat.  So when the muscle gives way to fat through inactivity, they burn less of the fat when they do exercise.

It takes far more calories to maintain a pound of muscle in your body than to maintain a pound of fat.  Even when muscles are inactive, they burn more calories than fat does.

Unfortunately, the sad truth is that dieting slows down the metabolism and, after dieting for two weeks, your metabolic rate can drop by 20 per cent.  So being fat makes you even fatter (because fat people don’t have enough muscle to burn the calories) and dieting makes it worse by slowing down your metabolism.

Fat people get exhausted and breathless when they exercise too hard because their bodies are trying to maintain status quo by saving fat and burning sugar (glucose).  The outcome is painful, disheartening and doesn’t result in fat reduction.  That’s why I’m telling you to take it very gently first. Forget the sweat lycra, and just do as much exercise as you enjoy.

As you become more active, your shape will begin to change, you’ll feel healthier – and you might start to wonder how you managed without those good feelings you get from gentle, steady regular exercise.
