Mandie's Gravatar Listened to it twice as I got lost in the mono/poly thing!! Fascinating stuff and thank you Colin for making the science of it all so accessible to us mortals and it REALLY helps when you understand with certainty what a food is actually doing for/to you.

I'm hoping you're leaving the podcast on here for a while as I have a feeling I'll be revisiting it! Going to look for flackseed oil as this has me curious. Checked out my smoked salmon today and eurrgh - it's farmed - shan't be buying THAT again! lol!

Ali's Gravatar Wow

Im really into all this 'fat' stuff. I have made notes and think Im getting the hang of this now. I am going to have to type up my notes and have them to hand just as reminders. Was really interested in 'monounsaturates' keeping 'good' cholestrol at the right level - is this just in olive oil or will I find it in types of food aswell? I can quite easily dress a salad with olive oil and some crushed flak/linseeds (going to find out more about them!) but wont be able to convice hubbie to eat it, I will need to find some other way of introducing monounsaturates into his diet.

Also had NO IDEA that exercise could affect cholestrol, I naievely thought that it was purely based on what we put into our bodies!

Thankyou Pete and Colin for another informative podcast.

Artavan's Gravatar Avoid vegetable oils such as corn or safflower oil.
Reduce your consumption of meats and dairy products.
Eliminate highly processed foods.
Increase consumption of omega-3 rich foods such as wild-caught cold-water fish like salmon, flaxseed oil, and walnuts.
With this way you can balance your intake of the omega fats.
