Many thanks

I LIKE this guy! Love the whole holistic approach and pushing your own boundaries without stress - much better than being yelled at! I thought it was interesting how some people see exercise as "a solution in isolation" and weren't seeing the full picture as you and Steve so obviously do. ALL aspects of life change NEED to work together in order for it to be attained. I loved the idea of "being your own coach" but I'd come across that before in your book. I was also interested in the idea of having a "hero" - for me this is like stepping into a role for drama - I can embrace that!
I can see how breaking it down into 6 months, 3 months, 1 month, 1 week would work, but I'm really not sure what it is I want! I know this sounds daft but for me, at the minute, I just want to be a "fat burning machine" and keep improving and upping my reps and weights as necessary. I don't think I have any short or long term targets that are this specific when it comes to exercise. Should I have? And if so what should they be?
It's going to take me some time to come up with an athelete I can aspire to as I'm not remotely competitive or athletic in a physical sense and have never had a mentor in that area. Mmmmm.... Perhaps you could lend me a Pete Cohen wristband in the meantime??? lol! M x
Having kept off 6 stone for the past 10 years I am absolutely 100% convinced that losing and keeping off weight for good can only be done if you exercise with it. Not just for the obvious physical reasons but because when you are putting real physical effort in you are less likely to go back to how you used to be and waste all that hard work. For this reason I think the work you guys do into promoting physical fitness is amazing! Keep up the good work!
Mandie - a fat burning machine is a pretty good thing to be!
Sometimes just enjoying doing what you are doing for its own sake is plenty of reward.
However you do mention upping your reps and weights. I find it motivating to attatch goals to those kind of numbers long and short term.
Also if you're a 'fat burning machine' and managing to improve your workout performance, what will this lead to? Will you be different from you are now? If so - maybe that is a goal or a stepping stone to another goal??
Hope that makes sense. It only makes sense to add these targets and goals if they make a difference to you. Everyone's a little different with what motivates them to achieve more!
All the best,
Steve
