Don't Bother With New Years Resolutions

Happy New Year to you all.

I  hope this year is a great one for you and you are happier, slimmer, fitter and healthier. Please have a listen to my new pod cast below, called, "Don't Bother With New Years Resolutions".

We still have some places left on the new Live Online Courses starting on the 12 of January. It’s a great opportunity to be coached by me in person and for you to receive a real personal touch. It’s a great chance for your specific needs to be addressed and resolved over the 8 weeks. There will be a focus on breaking the habits that have held you back and helping you create ones that not only help you lose weight but, more importantly, keep it off.

There will also be new tools and techniques for you to use as well as opportunities for you to get to know others and develop a stronger supportive network.

These courses will run in real time and will deliver a personal touch by offering group coaching.

Linda's Gravatar Great motivational Podcast - Thank you! I'm looking forward to learning to 'love' myself and achieve my goals in 2010 with the help of Pete Cohen and the team. I look forward to sharing my journey with you and hearing of how others are getting on too! Happy New Year when it comes :)

kasid's Gravatar Thank you for all your inspiring podcasts. I'm looking forward to pledging better health for myself and commiting to healthier eating and lifestyle with your help. Happy New Year all : )

Tor's Gravatar I always make New Year Resolutions - but then often make resolutions during the year as well (Lent, for example, is when I give up chocolate!). I always seem to fail and I think writing things down and making them 'public' is a really good idea. I would like to pledge to lose the weight that I need to lose (just under a stone), and to really do this seriously for me. I know which foods I need to avoid and they are the ones I crave (which makes it hard!) but I think my resolution must be to decide that I will go through the 'hard' times to make the goal.

Ros's Gravatar I am NOT going to resolve to lose 5 stone this year!
I pledge that this year I am going to focus on looking after myself better, learning to be good to myself and getting more balance in my life. I will use this year to experiment with healthy foods that I love to cook and eat, I will find a way to fit dance into my life (as this is the form of exercise that I love) and I will learn to stop fighting with myself.
See you on the 12th!
Ros xx

Katfrin's Gravatar Thanks for this lovely podcast Pete!
I've not made New Years Resolutions for a long time now - I found they always fell by the wayside. Maybe it's the timing of them always seeming wrong or the need to join everyone else making resolutions at the same time as yourself. I really like the idea of pledging to do the best you can to optimise your own health and fitness in the coming year - it's a heck of a lot more realistic and far easier to ahere to.
I wonder how many people think that they always fail by falling into the habit of making overly ambitious resolutions each year and how that makes them feel.

Cristina's Gravatar I've found many new year resolutions I've heard in the past quite hilarious (in a nice way that is) and I've yet to meet anyone who has stuck out a new year resolution (usually not past the first week or two). Why wait for New Year to create change in one's life?

With the help of Pete's program, I have changed my outlook in that if I go offtrack I simply stay aware that I'm offtrack and start again the next day. I no longer waste energy on self defeating negative thoughts in relation to weight such as guilt. I just start again the next day and again and again and again thereafter. So far, Pete's program has proved successful for me having lost one stone this year and my level of fitness has improved dramatically. I'm really excited about losing my next stone and I've committed to setting the goal of achieving this by end of March. I no longer see the program as a 'weight loss program' but as a 'complete reprogramming' of my outlook and habits in general for a healthier happier lifestyle with the bonus of being slimmer and fitter. I have no intention of making a new year resolution, I'm simply starting day 1 again TODAY! :)

sally's Gravatar Feeling fat, hungover and regretful is all in the past for me. For me this year you have shown us the tools to be content in the present. I am smiling as I write, as normally I cringe at the thought of a new year with so many resolutions to make. This year you have made it easier for me, to just commit to looking after myself and being happy....without all the soul destroying props i have used in the past!!!

Change is already in motion without defining 1st Jan as the ultimate day to set myself up for failure. State of mind is much better since starting your programe last year. Met some great people, via your programe, who have kept me grounded. Feel so supported, more than ever now. Am gonna try blogging for the first time, 2010. Definately count me in for the 12th January. Loving your work, as always.

Best Wishes and Heres to a Happy 2010 with loads of fun X

kpakpando's Gravatar Thanks Pete - sounds like you've got some exciting stuff planned! I'm in - will blog my goals. And in for the 12th January as well. Hurrah!

Pickles's Gravatar Great motivational podcast. I have already signed up to start the online course on 12th January so feeling positive that this is going to be a good year. As well as commiting to looking after myself and becoming slimmer, fitter and healthier I am also going to start blogging on a regular basis instead of the once in a blue moon that I have been doing. It certainly seems to make a difference to a lot of people and who knows it may be the key to 'a new me!' Happy New Year to all and see you on the 12th Pete.

Edinkiwi's Gravatar Thanks Pete, I am up to restart the programme on the 12th with everyone! This year I pledge to myself that I will remain consistant in my commitment to become slimmer fitter and healthier (and hopefully loose some weight in the process). I will not be afraid to make the necessary changes to my life.

Catgirl's Gravatar I've been making the same new year's resolutions for years so it's time to do things differently and make an actual commitment to myself. I'm pledging to make looking after myself the most important thing in my life this year - that means exercising regularly, eating for health and drinking lots of water...consistently! My other pledge is to just get on with it - get on with living a healthy life and looking after myself rather than spending endless hours planning and plotting what I am going to do and trying to line things up to be perfect before I start. Thanks Pete - count me in for the 12th.

wendy's Gravatar Thanks Pete. Lots of stuff in that podcast but the bit that got me excited was the new nutritional programme you mentioned. Looking forward to hearing more about that.

Happy new year to you dear Pete.

Sue Matthews's Gravatar I have just listened to Pete's latest Podcast and am on Day 7 2nd time round on the weightloss coaching programme. I am committed to improving my health, becoming slimmer and fitter but taking from the podcast my pledge would be to use the support of others more and that obviously would include me being part of a broader support network to others. I have loads of bad habits and it will take time to break them but I can and will succeed both through my own detemination and the support of others. I am not just a taker but can offer what has worked (on occaisions!) for me and would welcome the input of others. I am a relatively new blogger and to be honest Twitter fills me with horror! Bit of a technophobe so Pete, please keep things simple as well as growing through new technology. I really want to be involved in the 12.1 initiative and can feel the enthusiasm it engenders. Would be happy to be part of any group that offers us all support in getting where we want to be!

Sandie's Gravatar I have changed loads of things during last year with Pete (including moving home and I made a good start with weight loss).

I think that the 'pledge' is a New Years Resolution by another name.

For me I am going for a PLEDGE with slight twist to it all.

I pledge that for the next 365 days (one day at a time) I will be the best person that I can be for myself. I will continue with the veg. garden. I will commit to the 30 min walk per day.
# By Sandie | 01/01/10 21:42
Blosom's Gravatar What a great podcast, I hadn't made a New Years Resolution as they don't work but yes I will make a pledge to get back to were I was, to make time for ME, to get back on the programme and restart on the 12th , to try and exercise ( I was diagnosed with osteo arthritus in December another thing that helped put me down )
You have a lot of exciting things going on and I am going to make time for them,
Take care x x x

Janet's Gravatar Fabulous podcast - it's really helped me to clarify what I'm going to do this year.

2010 is a significant year for me as will be 50 in November and I pledge to make it my best year yet. I'm going to be as healthy and active as possible so that on 9th November 2010 I feel happy and comfortable about myself and I will be slimmer, fitter and healthier.

I will blog regularly and make use of all the support from the wonderful, supportive people who also blog. I pledge to blog even when things don't go so well, not just when everything is fine.

I'm looking forward to the live online course from the 12th. I've also been following you on Twitter and have found it very helpful to get frequent reminders of how to be fitter, slimmer and healthier. Big thanks for providing so much encouragement and motivation!

Tash's Gravatar I commit to making this year my best year so far! What you said about balance Pete is exactly what I need to do as I do seem to go from one extreme to another with regards to my health and exercise.
