Blosom's Gravatar Well done Mandie both on getting slimmer of the month and losing so much weight.
A lot of what you said I can relate to, like you I have been overweght most of my life and have been to both Slimming world and Weight Watchers ,also I have lost my weight many times only to put it back on and more beside.
But since joinng the programme I have lost about 12 lbs in about 5 months this may not seem a lot but I am so pleased as like you said I have felt so relaxed about it all, it hasn't been a DIET.

Also hearing you talk about taking responsibility and looking at yourself, has made me really think, about myself and why I do the things that I do. Just what I needed to hear today! Very inspirational Mandie!! Thanks for posting this Pete.

Sue's Gravatar What a fantastic podcast - it is the first time I have listened to one all the way through and all of what Mandie said I could identify with.

I, too was taken to various slimming clubs with my dear old Mum - (who spent her entire life either following a strict regime from one of the countless groups she joined, or following a wild "anti-diet" plan!) I have been to so many "diet" groups and felt a failure each time I lost weight and put it on again. I can see me now hiding in restaurants so as not to be seen by a fellow weight watcher for fear I was reported to the leader at the next meeting!

Thank you Mandie for sharing your story, both here and on the blog. I have heard your messages and you are truly inspiring. I bet you are a wonderful life coach and only wish you lived nearer to me!
Congratulations and I look forward to reading more of your blogs!

Shoana Philp's Gravatar Great Podcast Mandie and Pete
So relevant and inspiring. I found it particularily helpful today as I'm torn between wanting to do what's best for myself and my recouperation and be there now for my Mum who is poorly at the moment. I have travelled up to the hospital which is about an hour and a half away and sat for 3hrs at visiting. I shouldn't be doing any driving yet or sitting around at this stage of my hip recovery. However it's my Mum and I want to be there. I have however decided not to go today as my Sister and Dad are going and I was feeling my hip was sore but I was feeling so guilty. Mandie you really helped me by saying about being kind to yourself so that you actually get stonger and then more able to help others etc. I am going up to stay for a couple of days with my Dad tomorrow but because I felt so uncomfortable about needing to take a day today for myself I was really wanting to eat the uncomfortable emotions. So today you guys really helped me work my way out of feeling that.
Thank you sooo much.
Much love
Shoana xx

minnie's Gravatar well done for a great podcast, really enjoyed it, I have also been going to slimming clubs for almost 30 years on and off, and agree with everything you say, so glad you have broken the slimming club chain and ball.

angela's Gravatar Thanks for sharing, some of the things you said have really struck a cord with me particularly about forgetting about what's happened in the past drawing a line and moving on. I shall be kinder to myself and make a difference today.
Thankyou.

Mandie's Gravatar Thank you SO much guys for all your comments - I've only just found them all because of course I haven't commented on my own podcast so I'm not being informed when a comment has been posted! Doh! Blonde moment!? lol!

So glad that I inspired you all and even more delighted that we have found Pete and this amazing programme - it's a wonderful feeling to be throwing off the shackles of the weight loss industry and embracing LIFE fully and dealing with the emotions that go with it.

Yesterday I felt down as I've had a lot going on recently. Then I realised that I had CHOSEN to feel this way and could just as easily choose NOT to feel like that. So I took control, took responsiblity and it worked! Today I have turned it around. I realised that I didn't want to feel like that and so I did something about it - this is the ultimate empowerment I think!

Just need to shift another two stone now....lol! :-) xx

Annie Garcia's Gravatar Hi Mandie,

I loved listening to your story and how you're overcoming all your obstacles, that's very inspirational.

The most resounding message I took from this is about taking responsibility and with the platform of help you get from Pete's programme you're on a winner.

Well done for all you've achieved and continue to do so.

mumpy's Gravatar Hi Mandie, Just thought I would listen to your podcast before jetting off on my holiday and you have given me a lot of food for thought (pardon the pun!!). You really seem to have cracked this weight issue thing, and have inspired many of us to do the same. I hope I can be as strong and focused as you appear to be. Congratulations on being member of the month. Sorry this is a bit late in coming but better late than never. Next time Pete comes anywhere near Crewe, you should come too!!

Alice's Gravatar Mandie,
I got an iPod for Christmas and have been downloading all the podcasts so that i can listen to them before I go to bed, and last night I listened to yours. I can't believe how much it rang true with me. I have been trying to lose weight (quite successfully) for the past five years - I lost 3 stone, and then got pregnant with my son (now nearly 4), then lost a bit of the weight I'd put on and got pregnant with my daughter (now 2). Since having my daughter I have had postnatal depression, and really struggled with life in general, and food has been a comfort, with lots of evenings spent eating too much bread, butter and cheese, followed by extreme guilt and feelings of disgust at myself. I have been trying to work out how I can lose weight without going on a traditional diet of deprivation, and about 6 months ago, I stumbled upon Pete Cohen's website. But I was still quite depressed (with hindsight), and not ready to grasp it with both hands. In mid September I started being really strict about eating healthily in the week, and then over Christmas, I have started listening to these podcasts. So far I've lost 20lbs, and have about another 30lbs to go, but I've made a good start.

Hearing you talking about changing your mindset, and freeing yourself from the prison of a diet was amazing, and it really made me want to try this programme properly to get real results. Thank you for your inspiration, and I hope that you continue to be as content as you sound - it's what i want too!!

Look forward to reading more of your blog.

Mandie's Gravatar Hi Alice. How wonderful that this touched you and made a difference. I recorded this podcast with Pete some months ago but STILL this programme and having him in my life has given me the tools I need to get through any crisis - of this I am sure now.

Another thing about this programme is that it keeps evolving and no matter how much you already know there is always more to learn. THIS is what I find so exciting as I never want to stagnate and strive to self improve to achieve fulfilment. Fulfilment that bread and cheese will NEVER give us! :-))

Big hugs and hope to hear how you're doing on the blog... M xx
