Why is Dieting A Waist of Time for Weight Loss

How popular is dieting?  Well in the past 10 years it’s estimated that around 70 per cent of the adult female population and 30 per cent of all adult males have been on one. Have you did you stick to it?

A report in the August issue of the Cell Press journal Cell Metabolism explained why it’s so frustratingly difficult to stick to a diet. When we don’t eat, hunger-inducing neurons in the brain start eating bits of themselves. That act of self-cannibalism turns up a hunger signal to prompt eating.

I have recored a special podcast with my colleague Bren Pratt where we discuss some the myths that exist about dieting and give some practical advice on how to succeed without being on one.
