Chewing Your Food Helps With Weight Loss – With Dr Carlos Orozc
I have a great podcast for you listen to with Dr Carlos Orcozco. We discuss some of the root causes of peoples weight including their emotions and how poorly they chew their food.
It’s easily to overlook the part emotions can play in peoples weight gain and to think it’s all about the amount of food you eat and lack of exercise. I have seen many people exercise, cut back on their food intake and eat a balanced diet and yet fail to get shed excess pounds.
When this happens do you think it’s possible that this person is stuck in an emotional trap that’s effects how they mind and body works?
From my experience of working with people, helping them to look at their many life experiences as well as the emotions that often trigger them to eat can play an important role in helping people feel better about themselves and improve their ability to be slimmer, fitter and healthier.
Dr Carlos Orozco works as a Naturopathic physician and holds a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Biology with concentration areas in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in Mexico City.
A Masters Degree in Science in the area of Immunology from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City. A Doctorate (PhD) in Biochemistry from the School of Biomedical Sciences at Griffith University in Brisbane Australia. He was a postdoctoral Fellow from the Lalor Foundation in Delaware, in United States of America, and has worked over the last 15 years in the areas of Oncology, Gynaecological Oncology, Integrative and Natural Medicine.
Who is eating the cheapest food in the world?
If you had the power and influence to make a change about the situation what would you do to make a big impact and improve the health and well being of people on our planet?
Are you hungry for change?
By Emma Boffo, Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach
and Weight Loss Guru Practitioner
The other day I watched a fantastic online documentary called Hungry for Change.
We are currently living in a food crisis where the quality and state of the food we eat is nutritionally devoid and packed full of sugar. There is only one road to go down with this food and that is of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer.
Unfortunately the film is no longer available to watch online for free but you can buy the dvd and see a short clip here, which is actually enough to make you realise that it is now time for YOU to take control of your health, because no-one else is going to.
http://www.hungryforchange.tv/
We are quite literally overfed and starving to death. Our food is high calorie and low nutrition. We are becoming malnourished. Real food is low calorie and high in nutrition. It is full of life, gives us life and prolongs life.
Which of these pictures do you think will give us life and ward off diseases?
It’s a no-brainer really isn’t it. But why don’t we do it?
We are actually programmed to put on fat when food is available. It comes from when we needed to store for the winter, to put on extra body fat in case of famine. Our bodies are very clever like that. Fat can keep us going. But, these days, winter never comes! We have plentiful food available everywhere we go.
But most of it isn’t actually ‘food’ and this is why we are all permanently hungry. Our bodies are starving as they are not getting the nutrition it needs. If you ‘starve’ yourself via foods with no nutrition in them then you stay hungry as your cells don’t get nourished.
Your body continually sends out signals to eat but what it’s really asking for is REAL FOOD! Real food that contains vitamins and minerals. If you don’t get off of the junk food treadmill you will never feel satisfied and you will stay fat, tired and sluggish with a future full of disease. Not a happy picture.
Getting the nation addicted
Do you realise that all the junk and processed food doesn’t actually taste as nice as you think it does. Food manufacturers want to sell you their ‘food’ or drink over and over again. In order for you to do this they manipulate it and engineer it to make you do that.
Everything has been carefully structured and tested so that the texture, taste and smell make you go, ‘Mmmmmmm this is LOVELY, I MUST buy this again.’ Ring any bells?
We understand the addition to cigarettes and alcohol but not food.
A lot of people know about the additive MSG. Other free glutamates can be hidden under many different names such as maltodextrin and soy isolate. It is in 80% of processed and junk foods. MSG makes mice fat.
Sugar, the legal drug!
Food and bad diet/lifestyle probably kills more people than drugs do. Sugar is no better for us than drugs and alcohol yet we feed sugar to our kids!
White sugar is the purified sugar extracted from beets or sugar cane. It is a pharmaceutical sugar like white flour is a pharmaceutical carbohydrate. Cocaine is extracted in the same way from the coco plant.
They all fall into the same category as a white, purified substance that has been extracted from the plant kingdom and all cause imbalances in the body that lead to a whole host of problems.
Sugar is more than just what you think. It is in more than just sweets, chocolate, cakes and biscuits. It is also in bread, crackers, ready meals, pasta sauces, condiments and cough medicines.
It’s not fat that makes you fat, it’s sugar.
Sugar gives you a high when you are stressed. You become habituated to the effect so you want and need more and more. Just like a drug addict.
When you eat sugary foods it causes the hormone insulin to rise. When insulin is high in the body it switches off your fat burning hormones so there is only one place for the sugar to go, into fat storage for later, but there is never a ‘later’.
Are you going to take control right now?
We do not eat a diet typical for our species. You don’t see zoo animals eating cereal and cakes, they eat foods that they would typically find in their natural environment.
Don’t wait until you get sick before you change your diet for the better. Don’t think that getting ill will never happen to you.
Our health is under attack and we need to heal. Work WITH nature not against it. Start replacing your processed and junk foods with better quality and real foods.
Change your mind-set. Don’t say, ‘I can’t have it.’ Say, ‘I CAN have it but I don’t want it.’
Make changes now while it’s your own idea. What’s the worst that could happen? You drop body fat and have much more energy! Now I think that’s something worth getting don’t you?

The Obesity Epidemic With Zoe Harcombe
When it comes to being slimmer, fitter and healthier there is so much misinformation and confusion. In your pursuit for effective weight loss I think it’s essential to dispel much of the nonsense that we have been told and then find out the correct and right advice. Please take one hour to watch the inspirational Zoe Harcombe giving a lecture at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
According to Zoe;
“In a study of formerly obese people, researchers at the University of Florida found that virtually all said that they would rather be blind, deaf or have a leg amputated than be obese again.”
Zoë is a qualified nutritionist with a Diploma in Diet & Nutrition and a Diploma in Clinical Weight Management, but she is first and foremost an obesity researcher. She works exclusively in the area of weight and obesity and reads, writes and talks about obesity as many hours as possible, seven days a week.
Her complete goal and drive is to reverse the obesity epidemic. She has clear views on how it started and what we need to do to stop it and these were published in 2010 in the 134,000 word book: “The Obesity Epidemic: What caused it? How can we stop it?“.
